LIFETREE CLINICAL RESEARCH® CEO AND CO-FOUNDER NAMED TO ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION, UTAH CHAPETER BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Salt Lake City—The CEO and co-founder of Lifetree Clinical Research® and Lifetree Center for Neuroscience Research, one of the largest specialized clinical research organizations in the Western region of the United States, has been named to the board of directors for the Alzheimer’s Association, Utah Chapter.  Alice Jackson will begin her three-year term of service effective May 24, 2010.

"Utah is facing a sharp increase in people with Alzheimer's," said Jack Jenks, executive director of the Alzheimer's Association, Utah Chapter. "The addition of Alice Jackson to our board of directors will ensure that our association will continue to benefit from a diversity of experience, expertise and insight, leading to a cure for this disease."

According to the 2010 Alzheimer’s Association Disease Facts and Figures Report, Utah has the second highest prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease among all 50 states.  The rate of people in Utah afflicted with Alzheimer’s has also increased at an alarming 45 percent rate since 2000.  By 2025, Utah will bear the highest per capita increase of the disease among all 50 states with a projected 127 percent growth rate resulting in 50,000 persons suffering from Alzheimer’s.

"I am honored to serve on the board of directors for the Alzheimer’s Association, Utah Chapter as it is an organization that has a personal as well as professional meaning to me,” states Jackson.  "My father suffered with Alzheimer’s until he passed away in 2004.  Lifetree Clinical Research has also built a strong collaborative relationship with the organization, which is very supportive of our Alzheimer’s research.  Lifetree is dedicated to researching disorders of the central nervous system.  We formed the Lifetree Center for Neuroscience Research in 2008 to execute studies involving new drug candidates for the treatment of central nervous system diseases and disorders.  With the alarming growth rate of this devastating disease in Utah, we hope our research will help find solutions that will give those suffering from Alzheimer’s and their caregivers a fighting chance for a better quality of life.”

The Alzheimer's Association, Utah Chapter board of directors oversees all programs and services of this tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit, donor-supported organization that uses 80 percent of funds raised for education and research efforts.
